A Mail Order Company Sent Me A Sale Catalogue & Generous Discount Offer But?

When I ordered some items things began to go wrong. One item was out of stock, another was sent but the wrong size which I had to return, one had been wrongly priced in the catalogue.and one was fine, but I’d thrown the package away one that was wrongly priced so I kept it even though I didn’t really want it. I only got a discount, but only a partial one. I’ve written and told them this, but they just said they’d applied the discount and the wrong catalogue price was a mistake,
As time was passing and I wasn’t getting any sensible answers to my queries, I sent a payment for the invoice price of the goods I’d kept, even though it was more than I should have paid, but by then, they’d added £12.50 late payment fee plus interest and now they’re sending threatening letters for neary £50.00 all of which was made up of late fees and interest..
I’m wondering if I’m ever going to see the end of this, I’d only ordered some underwear and a couple of nighties, but this is turning into a nightmare. Can anyone advise me of what I should do? Are they really allowed to charge these fees when they were the ones that got things wrong in the first place?

These companies are ok until something goes wrong and then as you’ve found out they are an absolute nightmare for putting things right. I suggest you talk to Citizens Advice Bureau who have taken over from Consumer Direct. They should be able to help you.
