Discounting vs future value?

Hello Guys. What is the difference between future value and discounting rate. They seem the same thing.

    The future value of something is it’s present value compounded using some growth rate.

    The discount rate is what you use to find the present vale of some future value.

    So they are the same concept, just applied in different ways.

    They are the same thing, it’s for finances what Ohm’s law is for Engineers.
