Do I have to give original no claims discount certificate to renew my car insurance?

I have a one year no claim discount from company A. I have gone with company B this time as it is cheaper, but they asked for my original NCD-certificate from company A.

If I give them the original one, then how can I prove of my 2 years NCD, one from A and other from B this year, if I go with someone cheaper next year?

when B send you your no claims cert next year it will include your 1yr from A. I change every year and the last company always send through the no claims with the previous no claims added on. for example i got 3yrs with elephant, 1yr with flux and i just left tesco after a year…the no claims cert i got through the post from tesco states 4yrs no claims. hope that helps

Because once the 1st year has been proven to B at the end of year 2 they would give a 2 year NCB certificate not another 1 year one!

    Before sending take a photocopy.

Next year company B will send a renewal notice with 2 years NCB on it.
