Do You Agree With The Supreme Court’s Decision That Gun Control Is Constitutional?

“Like most rights, the Second Amendment right is not unlimited.
It is not a right to keep and carry any weapon whatsoever in any
manner whatsoever and for whatever purpose: For example, concealed weapons prohibitions have been upheld under the Amendment
or state analogues. The Court’s opinion should not be taken to cast
doubt on longstanding prohibitions on the possession of firearms by
felons and the mentally ill, or laws forbidding the carrying of firearms in sensitive places such as schools and government buildings, or
laws imposing conditions and qualifications on the commercial sale of
arms. Miller’s holding that the sorts of weapons protected are those
“in common use at the time” finds support in the historical tradition
of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.”

  1. Iwalkeve says:

    Of course.

  2. David says:

Yes they should be strictly controlled

  3. Wake the Sheeple says:

When the Second Amendment was written, citizens had the exact same firearms as the government. That is the way it is supposed to be. The government did not have “assault” weapons that the people couldn’t have.

  4. Dr Phil O sheet says:

They also upheld that weapons open to regulation are those NOT for military use so by your own logic you then must support the idea that Assault weapons are specifically protected since you keep saying they are military weaponry.

  5. Philip D says:

It was common place at the time of the constitution to carry guns but like laws in other country’s as time changes and safer to live in places you wouldn’t even dare going to in the light of day let alone spend every night there laws need to change to be able to make it safer would you feel safe in an area where gangs had an easy way to get hold of guns so they could hold up stores and mug people no that is why laws need changing

  6. Cosmic MasterMind says:

Not really, I think the Court has been looking for a clever way to phrase an explanation of the 2nd Amendment to make the proposed new laws look like they don’t contradict it.
I AM however absolutely in favor of strict gun control.
Taking the Second Amendment to it’s extreme, everyone should be allowed to own and carry ANY weapon, including nuclear weapons; the Second Amendment did not place any limitations on what kind of weapons American citizens were allowed to own. It might sound absurdist to say that the 2nd Amendment allows private citizens to own nukes but consider how weapons technology is likely to advance over the coming decades. Miniature rail-guns? Handheld microwave cannons? Smart bullets? Sonic guns? Pulse lasers? These weapons will all soon come to pass.

  7. Romeo says:

The Federal government has no right to restrict the citizens right to bear arms

  8. GOD says:

Well, it clearly states: Congress shall make no law that infringes the right to bear arms!
    so you decide!

  9. this One's for YOU ! says:

…the (wording) of the Constitution and its 2nd Amendment are quite clear ! (I believe in “Gun Control”)
    ( I use “two-hands” ! (to control my gun(s) )

  10. fdm215 says:

Given the federal govt’s power to reasonable regulation of ‘time, place, and manner’ for most things, it makes sense

  11. Kurotaro says:

It depends upon what you mean by gun control. If you mean by having concealed permits, I’m fine with that. If it means registration for buying firearms at stores or retailers, again I’m fine with that. However having to register weapons for private sales between individuals starts to get really iffy. I’m fine with the banning of possession of hollow point bullets, and armor piercing bullets. I’m fine with restrictions upon fully automatic weapons, however its pretty pointless. However criminals should not have their 2nd amendment rights stripped forever just because they are a criminal. They should only lose that right if it was a violent offense, and they should gain that right back if they haven’t committed any crimes for 5-10 years after their release. However banning weapons makes absolutely no sense in the grand scale of things, and I am not in support of ridiculous restrictions upon firearms. There is no reason to ban “Assault Weapons”, regardless of the fact that most “Assault Weapon” bans don’t even know what an Assault Rifle is.

  12. Five T says:

No because it is not constitutional. Gun control won’t work anyway. If guns are outlawed the only people who will have guns are outlaws. When did outlaws follow the law? If gun control actually worked, wouldn’t Chicago be the safest place in the world? It’s not so there. Higher crime and homicides than New York even. Look at how many murders have happened in Chicago just this year and it’s only been a month and a few days. What does that tell you?

  13. Peanut butter and chocolate says:

now it’s going to be a “war against guns” like the :war against drugs”
seeing how that war on drugs that is STILL going on panned out, more people will be stopped and frisked for not just drugs now the they will be stopped for not having right type of gun because a pistol can be an assault gun ;look up the meaning of a assault gun.
there will probaly be also spying by the gov and premature raids on people who are diagnosed with a mental disorder who also happen 2 own a gun. People will be going to jail 4 50 yrs plus for having the wrong bullet in their pistol. most prisoners in jail are serving for drug possesion sometimes with very long , unreasonable sentences.
    the 2nd adm. is unlimited
back in the late 1800s machines guns were already invented. u cant stop technology. guns always been here in america so stop playing the blame game. i bet if the mass shooter adam lanza was still alive, would u still be blaming guns or would you be blaming him?

  14. big dave says:

I think the fact that a person WANTS an assault rifle should be grounds enough to keep it away from them. The average idiot can get in enough trouble with a knife and fork.
