How can I figure out which utility company is offering the cheapest deal?

Gas and electric prices are rising and I need to know which company is offering the cheapest deal. I have tried to use some of the comparison sites but not much help and they are really confusing. Please advise…. Thanks

I don’t think the two answers already given will help this person if he/she is "really confused" by comparison websites. However, there is no other option when searching for the cheapest deal. You compare each provider’s prices, hence comparison websites.

one thing that gets overlooked by the comparison sites is what other offers the competition does. just being cheap isn’t always the best deal for you. the utility warehouse cashback card gets overlooked all the time. many people say they are no cheaper than the other utility companies but when you add in the discount you get from shopping at asda, sainsburys, M&S and loads of other shops, its quite easy to get a big discount off your monthly bill. obviously the discount will vary from individual to individual. but one thing is for sure, large family’s with big shopping bills are laughing with the amount of cashback they get back.
see the link below for the website and the link to the facebook page has lots of info (see the info page) if you want to learn more about this company.

I can vouch for the Utility Warehouse. I have been with them for over 2 years and in conjunction with using the cashback card I don’t think I could be getting a better deal.

    There are 6 major suppliers.
They deliberately make it confusing so you can’t compare like for like.
We use Scottish Power which is cheapest for Monthly Direct Debit Dual Fuel on 1 year contract in Warwickshire!
    Try http://www.Uswitch.com for comparisons.
