You get a discount online but I think you get a bigger discount if you go to the store in person. They usually offer a student discount every year starting from like August to October.

    I bought a new 17" Macbook for $1700 but I had a student discount of $100.

They also threw in a printer that was $100 and an iTouch for $250. Both rebate. And then I sold the printer and the iTouch.

I had to pay for it all up front costing me $1700 total.

    So lets do the math:

    total: $1700
    sd: -$100
    it(r): -$250
    p(r): -$100
    it-$160
    =$1090

I ended up giving the printer to my Uncle as a gift. Apple sells the printer for $100, but it’s actually only about $70 value. The 8gb iTouch is $250 but it’s value has now dropped to $160. So for a $1700 laptop, I ended up saving: $610

It would depend on if they bought enough of them in quantity to justify a discount. Meaning if they struck a deal w/ Apple for selling one specific model at one time.
