All I managed to establish when I went through therapy was that if you didn’t want to take medication, the best way is to talk through it. Either a friend, loved one or health professional, just someone. They don’t have to understand, they don’t have to give advice, they just need to listen and it will help you more than you would believe. If you are anything like me, you won’t have believed what I just wrote, but seriously, it can really help just having someone listen.

I never wanted to take medication, (and I haven’t for years now) and felt suicidal for years until I finally found someone who ended up talking to me about it. I ended up talking to them in turn and somehow can deal with everything so much better than I ever could before. I’m not saying that I’m now in a euphoric state, and it won’t make you happy constantly, but it helps you deal with depression better, allowing you to get on with other things. And the better you can get on with other things, the easier depression is to live with. It’s a snowball effect that usually starts with just talking to someone.

There are lots of organisations out there to help you, if you don’t want to talk to someone you know for real. I don’t know where you are from, but the Samaritans spring to mind. There will also be regional ones for your specific area/country, but a quick online search can find those easily.

    Good luck.

Depression is a horrible thing. Have you ever considered learning to meditate? Meditation is a great way of centring yourself so that you do not worry about the past or the future and stay in the present moment. It will help to take you out of your depression. It is easy to learn and once learnt you have it for life. You could also consider trying Reiki. Reiki is a Japanese healing therapy that uses energy to bring about calmness and balance of mind, emotions and the physical body. Both of these things may well help you feel a great deal better. Both of these practices have proven healing benefits both emotionally and physically. I have written a book on both of these things. It is called Nourish the flame within, by Lynette Avis and David Brown published by Authorhouse. It comes as a physical book and a down load. It is available at Amazon and other book stores. In my book I have some meditations to help with depression and emotional health and well- being. I hope this is helpful to you.

It’s all in your thinking which leads to your behavior. If you can alter your thinking than you can alter your results.
