I Am Interested In Purchasing A Flat With A Short Lease But The Seller Doesn’t Want To Renew; Can I Renew?

I am looking at purchasing a 2 bedroom flat with 76 years left on the lease. The flat is for sale for £154,995. I know that this is a short lease but the sellers are not looking to renew it. Would I be able to renew the lease myself and how much is this likely to cost? The £154,995 is extremely cheap for the area so the sellers have allowed for this.

It will cost you + half of that money. Well depends how wrecked it is, and what you need to change.

can u renew? when they say no = nope.
that is like saying u want to get married
to some one who doesn’t want to b married.

The flat is cheap because of the short lease. It can cost thousands to extend the lease. You would need to ask your Solicitor to contact the Freeholders. There could be problems with getting a mortgage for leaseholds under 99 years. Don’t put in an offer until you get the correct answers.
