I Sold Something On Ebay And Buyer Has Opened A Case Saying Item Is Not As Described. What Should I Do?

I sold 9 PGX graded comics in a sale on ebay. I sent the items and buyer is saying there are scratches on the sides. I listed the comics as mint. Those scratches were not there when I shipped them. Initially I said it must have been shipping damage and he said it couldn’t be because the scratches were different. I said I was sorry but, I had No returns clearly listed and said I would not give a refund. Some messages I sent were a bit rude but, I suspect fraud as the damage happened in the only place I did not have pictures. I think he is suffering from buyers remorse and is playing the system. I will probably lose the case anyway. So should I just send a refund or let case play out and maybe suffer the consequences. If I do I will get negative feedback. What should I do?

    There was some shipping damage..
look, if yu can prove it that it was shipping damage then you dont have to pay refund..
    but if yu are unsuccesful..
Then unfortunately, yu have to pay the refund..
There is no other option.. I pity yu.. 🙁
