    No. If you cannot support yourself, then either your sponsor has to provide for you or you have to return to your country of citizenship. Public charge laws – immigrants cannot obtain welfare, or any sort of taxpayer-paid benefits or they become ineligible for citizenship, and can lose their GC & be required to return to their own country at their (or their sponsor’s) expense. Don’t request any fee waiver or it will come out that you are incapable of providing for yourself (and any dependents you may have), and you’ll lose your GC.

    In addition, if you have been a resident for long enough that you have to renew your 10-year Green Card, you may want to get the ultimate discount by applying for naturalization and be done with Green Cards for the rest of your life.
