I’m 16 Getting First Job Sales Associate High Standard?

Im 15 turning 16 in late April. Anyways I’m looking to get a summer job and I would like to get a job at a sports retail place by a nearby mall. The Mall has a Dick’s (sporting goods), Finish line, and Footlocker. I would like to get a job as a sales associate because it seems like a more fun job, something I’d be good at and it pays better than the minimum wage of a cashier. I will soon get a car for my birthday which i will then have to start paying back the money that the car costs back to my parents. So i will have a ride to get to work and back. I feel that I would be good at this job because I wrestle, play football, I run track, and I have a lot of experience playing baseball and I enjoy playing basketball with my free time. Also, I consider myself a responsible, somewhat Intelligent person with common sense, good communication ability, and would be good with customers. Is it unrealistic to apply for a job as a apparel sales associate, footwear sales associate, or any type of associate in that matter? Because of my inexperience nd young age. Would it be better to just apply as a cashier even though I feel I would be underutilized and of course being payed less? Thank you for reading through this I really appreciate it. Thanks for anyone with prior experience.

Depending on the state you live in, you may only be able to be a cashier. Only reason is because you’ll be doing stock and with you being underage, they don’t want to be liable for it.
