I’m Now On Section 8 And My Landlord Is Not Going To Accept My Voucher. Can He Do This?

Of course he can. Most landlords refuse section 8. There are no laws that require him to accept it.

Yes. There are no laws requiring landlords to accept them. There are a lot of restrictions and additional governmental regulations that go along with them.
I don’t accept them because they are an entitlement program and allow people to live beyond their means.

It is important to remember that the landlord is a property owner, and thus this is his/her property….and they can choose whether or not they want to accept Section 8.
I won’t pretend to be an expert on Section 8, but anything having to do with the government brings regulations and oversight. For a landlord who has no problem getting tenants and has nice rental properties, getting involved with the Section 8 problem may be more trouble perhaps than what it may be worth. Remember…….rental properties are a business.

Yes, legal everywhere except MA. Even there he can refuse if that means he has to lower rent.
    You need to move.

Yes, he can refuse to accept Sec. 8 voucher payments. No landlord is required to participate in the Sec. 8 program.
