Is It Classed As Gross Misconduct If I Use Monopoly Vouchers If Im A Mcdonalds Employee?

have been sacked from work (McDonalds) for gross misconduct. I have used Monopoly Vouchers and got reported back to my store for it even though I didn’t know I couldn’t use them. They hard hardly any proof that I did it as well, all they had was a receipt with order on it. should I appeal against this or take it further? I know other people that have been sacked due to these sort of situations and wasn’t sacked for Gross Misconduct, and I didn’t get sacked by own business manager. Is this classed as gross misconduct or unfair dismissal? I’m a bit confused and not quit sure what to do :/

  1. Smells like New Screen Names says:

    yes, as it’s direct theft.
“hardly any proof” except for the receipt and witness testimony.

  2. Ariaread says:

Yes that is gross misconduct. Employees CANNOT participate in any company sale promotions.

  3. ? says:

I quote from the rules of the scheme:
“The following are not eligible to participate: (i) Employees and immediate family members of employees of any of McDonald’s Restaurants Limited . . . .”
Whether this is gross misconduct or not depends on the company’s disciplinary rules. You may wish to check on this and maybe talk to ACAS.

  4. Sarky says:

Off course it is gross misconduct. You are going against specific rules in place.
