Is it possible to buy a Macbook pro from Dixons airport store, VAT free plus with student discount?

Dixons have an airport store, which makes anything you buy VAT free for sure, I’m just wandering if it’s possible to get educational discount on top of this?

  1. Politically Correct says:

Education discount only applies if you buy directly from Apple.

However, you can buy from Apple in the UK getting your student discount, then get VAT refunded at the airport if you are exporting the laptop outside the EU. I have done this.

  2. SimonC says:

It can only be VAT free if you are exporting it to a non-EU country. Otherwise you have to pay VAT, although Dixons may advertise "VAT free" when in fact all they are doing is reducing the price by the equivalent of VAT – ie its just a reduced price.

The best place to find out whether Dixon’s will give a student discount is to ask them directly. However, my guess is that they will not, because their whole marketing proposition is different for airport stores than it is for normal high street stores.
