I want a bike that I can use on and sometimes off the road, I live in an area where there are lots of hill. I don’t know what to look for when buying a bike

It’s a mistake to buy cheap when in comes to bikes. Go into your local bike shop and talk to them about your needs.

The standard sensible answer is that you should visit your local specialist bike shop and talk to them about yourself, what sort of use you want from a bike, your budget, your cycling experience etc. Then get their advice on the sort of bike that will suit your needs. You don’t have to buy from them, and many will price match internet offers. The bike you link to looks heavy and unsuitable for significant off-road use, though it might be just what you need. At that price do not expect a lightweight bike of high quality – but you may find just what suits your needs. If you’re a novice is is particularly important to try before you buy, for size, style, instruction on the gears and brakes. Your local shop will be there to service the bike for you, they all need a tweak from time to time. Good luck and enjoy.

it actually doesn;t look that bad – other than having a freewheel in stead of cassette
    here is the problem though
    only one size
    what size are you?>
their number, 50cm, sounds like it is for a very small person
but it doesn;t really look small
and – they don;t have a recommended height range so it is hard to tell
also it is not for anything really woods-y trail-y
mostly urban is its best application
