Sales ledger and Purchase ledger?

When employers mention Sales ledger and Purchase ledger in an application what exactly do they mean? This may sound obvious and I know what they both are but what do employers mean when they say just Sales ledger and Purchase ledger?

    Sales ledger is the list of customers you sell goods/services to on credit terms, also called debtors, ie list of customers who owe money to you

    Purchase ledger is the list of suppliers you buy goods/services from on credit, also called creditors, ie list of suppliers who you owe money to
