Sales people…………?

Do you enjoy your job? Are you good at your job?

Has anyone tried this but decided it wasn’t for you?

Any advice for someone considering going into media/advertising sales as a career change?

No trolls please.

Thanks.

I was in sales for over 15 years, I have done telesales, sales rep, sales manager, National and International sales manager. So pretty much the whole shebang and yes without blowing my own trumpet I was very good, I won plenty of company and industry awards, was financially rewarded as well as winning holidays, TV’s Ipod’s etc in sales competitions.

I don’t do it anymore and have changed careers recently – the reason being that I wanted to spend more time at home and didn’t want to travel as much.

I enjoyed the buzz of getting the deal, and the thrill of the chase, that said it can be stressful, you also find yourself working late in the evenings and weekends as in most cases your office is home based. But that can be offset by being able to manage your own time, for instance I didn’t book time off work to go to kids sports days or school plays so it is swings and roundabouts.

    Advice –
Be prepared for plenty of "No’s" from customers – you just dont take it personally and move on to the next one.

If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

I tried it, and quit after two days. Wasn’t for me. It’s not for everyone. Whatever you choose as a career, you should have a passion for it.

You will be ok if you remember to sell is to serve others so is the thing your selling something you feel will benefit others?-you will get what you are giving.
PS I know the title sounds dumb but ”How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie is the BEST thing you could read now-do it before you decide
