Selling crafts at car boot sales?

I am thinking of making cards and selling them at a car boot sale to make a bit of cash. I would probably sell other things too. Do you think it is a good idea or will it fail? the reason is im trying to raise some money for charity and im quite good at crafts if you can think of other ways to sell them please tell me thanks 🙂

A boot sale may not be the best place to do this as in my experience, the people who come to boot sales are looking for a bargain. I’m not sure how you price your items, but an element of the cost represents the time you spent on the item. Obv mass produced cards can be sold very cheaply, hand crafted cards are more expensive. A dedicated craft fair may be a better idea. Or if your chosen charity already has retail outlets, speak to them and see if they will put in a box of your cards on the counter.

One last thing, as Gerald says, you have to have the charity’s permission to sell on their behalf. They can often give you promotional materials so that your buying public know that you are bona fide.

Hope this helps – good luck.

If it doesn’t matter which charity you could put your idea to some charity shops otherwise it’s a
nice idea and should work but if you say it’s for charity you must have their backing.
