Small Business Sales And Marketing Pay Increase?

I’m currently managing a small web design business, which has 2 developers (I’m one of them) developing applications for clients.
We earn about $6000 per each job we get.
We have a sales and marketing director who gets us about 60% of our jobs, and he is currently paid 15% of the total amount we earn from any job, and we earn 40% each.
He is complaining that that isn’t enough, and would like an increase.
The problem is, he only sends about 10-15 emails per job, and organises about 3 – 4 meetings. This is much less than the amount of work we do, which involves countless hours of designing and writing code.
Do you think his argument for a pay increase is valid?
