Sole occupancy council tax discount?

My brother currently lives with my mam (who is a widow) but is moving out in a few months and it will be only her living in the house after this.

I was just wondering whether sole occupancy discount for council tax is means tested or whether anyone is entitled to it who is living on their own?

Sole occupancy discount is NOT means tested. It is the discount your mam (who is a widow) will get because whe is the sole occupant. (Sole means alone – single)…duh

Anyone is entitled to it who lives on there own.
Once you brother moves out, ring up the local council office and they will not only reduce her council tax by 25% but will probably give her a rebate

No the 25% discount is not means tested . So if on your own perfectly entitled to claim it

She’ll get a 25% discount for being the only person living there and might also be entitled to further council tax help.
