Tattoo Touch Ups As Painful As Original Tattoo? Help.?

I wanna know if tattoo touch ups are as painful as original tattoos can be? Do they hurt more? I mean the artist is basically working over skin that might possibly still be sensitive underneath. Also do most artists do first touch ups for free? I’ve heard repeatable artists will because your basically advertising their work.
My tattoo is about 2 months old or so but I believe it needs a touch up, think a few places need a little help. A place or two about the size of my pinky nail is lighter in color then the rest. Also think my Dads name needs to be gone over again. I haven’t had it checked out yet because of personal reasons and going on vacation tomorrow. I plan on getting it looked at after my vacation when Im done with bring in the water a lot. Over all I love my tattoo to death it means a great deal to me I love it’s concept. I just want it to be right.
Thanks for any help! :3

I recently got a tattoo of mine touched up – It feels pretty much exactly the same, no more, no less. The one I got touched up I’d had for a year and I noticed there were faded spots like you’re describing.
It will be probably be really quick, depending on how much touch up your tattoo needs, but yes, a lot of tattoo artists will do the touch ups for free (or with a substantial discount) unless it’s in areas they advise against getting such as your foot or hand, as these areas tend to fade faster than most due to everyday wear and tear of life.
    Good luck! 🙂

It will hurt a little bit less than the original tattoo, but mostly because you’ll be expecting the pain and your body will prepare for it. A good artist should do a free touch-up, or do it for the price of the needle (free time)

Getting a tattoo touched up does hurt a lot more because its over scar tissue, but it also doesn’t last as long since its only touchups.

Yeah they hurt the same. And the price depends on the artist. If they are a good reputable artist they might touch up for free or at least at a discounted price.
