This Guy Asked Me To Prom, Does He Like Me?

In my AP English class, we do an activity where random topics are written on folded slips of paper, and each person draws one paper, and we have to go to the front of the room and give an impromptu speech on the topic we drew. Well today, the day before our spring break, a boy in my AP history class told our teacher that we should do that same activity since we didn’t have anything planned, and a good portion of the class was gone, took extra days off for spring break. Little did I know that he had worked it all out with our teacher beforehand. He and the teacher had it planned so that I would be last to give my impromptu speech, which would only leave one possible topic to draw from the cup when it was my turn.
When it got to my turn, the teacher had substituted the last topic for a piece of paper that said “Will you go to prom with Marty Lucas?” (I changed his name for privacy). I drew it, read the prompt out loud, and finally got the word yes out, it really surprised me.
He has acted differently around me than other people, but he’s naturally sort of a flirtatious person. He acts kind of nervous around me when other people are around, especially his guy friends, but when we’re alone or not with people that either of us really hang out, he seems comfortable and confident. He’s gone out of his way in the past to do nice things for me, and I catch him staring at me in our classes sometimes. He almost treats me like one of the guys though, because he high-fives me and teases and those kind of things. Also, prom tickets just went on sale this week, so he asked really early, which really makes me think he’s interested.
I just don’t want to rush things or scare him off, any advice on what to do? I’d like to take it further after prom, but I don’t know for sure if he wants that, and I don’t want to mess up by being too forward. But I don’t want to let something that I want go. What should I do, and what do you think he thinks about me?

    Oh, how cute.
Dear, if you have to ask if somebody likes you, then you don’t know him/her well enough for it to matter.
You need to see a mental health professional. Perhaps someone dealing with abnormal thinking processes can understand why you believe someone who asked you for a date was not interested.
Oh, BTW, anybody who wants to “take it further” with someone they don’t know is a promiscuous slut. I assume you already know that. Whatever floats your boat. Just remember the birth control. Nothing illegal about screwing anybody you fancy, but you may develop a reputation. It is not a sign of wisdom to drop your drawers on the first date.
If you meant that you would like to explore having a relationship with him, then a kiss on the cheek and a “I had a great time, call me” at your door is all you need to do.
