Watch Brand Review: Which Is The Best Brand of Watches?

Wherefore art thou ‘Citizen’, ‘Pierre Cardin’ or ‘Casio’?

Two watches can have identical features, yet one may last you for twenty years of hard work, while the other starts making funny noises as soon as you actually do anything with your hands. The brand of your watch can actually tell you quite a bit of important information – whether the design is fashionable, how long it will last, a general price range, and more. Today we check out some of the most popular brands of watches, and discover what they’re known for.

Armani: Armani watches have very distinctive, singular styling, usually utilising Roman numerals, leather bands and a classic squared-off oval face. They fall within quite a narrow price range, and will never go out of fashion.

Casio: Casio makes functional, fairly basic yet still quite fashionable watches. You’ll find prices for Casio watches online starting at around AU$60, but they are not exclusively a low-end watch – Casio’s swimming watches and fashion watches are good quality and highly affordable. Casio watches come with a 2-year warranty.

Citizen: Citizen go for classical designs in their watches online, as well as high functionality. One major selling point of the brand is their Eco-Drive technology – highly efficient solar power system that can be charged either by natural or artificial light, and runs for many months (even in the dark) once fully charged. This means no more changing watch batteries! Citizen watches are typically feature-laden, but very well priced.

Dolce and Gabbana: Dolce and Gabbana are also known as D&G, and are a fashion-focused rather than feature focused watch brand. You’ll find that their styles are being constantly updated; the brand’s signature motif is the use of the letters D&G. D&G watches are priced at the high end.

DKNY: DKNY watches are a fashion-focused brand, again, although the styling comes from several different designers so the collection has a lot more variability in style than in some other fashion brands. DKNY watches are typically for dress wear only (no water resistance), and you’ll have to check whether your model is sold with a warranty.

Fossil: This popular fashion watch brand is unusual, eclectic and very earthy. For a fashion brand, it is also very affordable. Fossil watches generally come with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty, and you’ll find a range of watches designed for both sport and dress purposes, with anywhere from 0m to 200m water resistance. The brand is technically fairly simple… perfect if you don’t want to get an engineering degree to use your watch!

Jag: Another fashion-focused brand, you’ll find a lot of variability in Jag’s styling. These watches usually come with a slightly longer 3-year warranty.

Lorus: Lorus watches are at the lower end of the price range, and feature simple designs and classic feature sets. Many also come with a 2-year warranty, so despite the ultra-low pricing, there is no reason to worry about quality when buying Lorus watches online.

Pierre Cardin: A well-known designer fashion watch brand designed for dress wear, but with a pleasant surprise on the price tag!
