What % discount do those companies who promise to buy your house operate at?

You know those companies that sometimes advertise on the TV and on posters to promise to buy your house if you really need to urgently… what kind of typical discount do they work at?

For example if you had a house valued by estate agents at £300k, what would be the typical price these companies would offer… £250k? £200k?

I believe they generally offer between 20% and 25% less than the current market value, but this almost certainly varies according to where your house is and how desperate they think you are. Most, if not all, of them give free appraisals and valuations so the best thing to do is probably contact them and ask. You will very likely get hassled A LOT by phone and by email afterwards if you don’t take up their offer though, so be ready for that.

There is no set percentage – but it will be a LOT less than market value
