What train travel discounts are available to me?

Hello 🙂

I’m 17 and a full time worker, the office I work in is moving up-country meaning I have to pay to get to work! Yay lol. Anyway I was just wondering if there are any discounts that you know of that I may be able to use to make the journey a little cheaper.

I’ve heard and am going to apply for the 16-25 rail card, knocking 1/3 off the fare, but if you guys know of anything else to make it even cheaper I’ll be grateful 🙂

Thanks,
Steve

Yes if your journey is a daily commute in the weekday rush hour you may find it cheaper to buy a ‘Season ticket’, which gives you unlimited travel between two points for a week, a month, 3 months or a year. If you are travelling outside the rush hour buying tickets each day with your railcard discount, will be the best option. Can’t say much more without knowing your journey details and how frequently you will be travelling

You might be able to bulk buy tickets like a season ticket which would also give a discount.

    What journey are you making?
There may be a local railcard.

A season ticket is the best option for commuting to work. Be aware that railcards have a minimum fare of £12 when used before 10 a.m. between September and June.
