Where can I sell chocolates online?

Hi guys,

I’m a chocolatier who is just starting off in UK, and am looking for online venues where I can sell my chocolates. Does anyone know of any major sites where I can sell chocolates online? I know there is ebay and amazon, but I just can’t stand the fact that they are known for ‘bargains’ unlike the somewhat luxurious high end chocolates brand I am trying to establish. Any ideas guys?

You should have your own website and drive traffic to this using Google Adwords. You can then list the items on Google Shopping and they will come up in that section of the search. You can also take advertisements on relevant websites and / or pay site owners a commission when they send a customer to you. That way you are in control of your brand.

I agree with you on bargain hunters on ebay, but don’t find this is as much of an issue on Amazon. However, to sell foodstuffs on Amazon you will need to apply and have them accept this application.

    Yeah, Ebay, Amazon, maybe Craigslist.

If you can afford it, and are serious about expanding your business, you should build your own website or hire someone to build one and sell the chocolate there. Having your own website will also make you look more professional instead of looking like "that guy selling suspicious chocolates on Ebay".

I don’t know if you need a license to sell over the Internet or not, though. But I think it’d be easier to build a reputation with a dedicated website.
