Why Do Some Discounts Exclude Dairy And Alcohol?

My local grocery store has a coupon allowing a few dollars off of a $20 purchase. Why does this offer exclude dairy and alcohol? Does this exclusion also apply to products like eggs and cheese? Thanks. I’m sure the answer is obvious…

    Grocery stores do the math on this to predict which products they’ll lose money on, if there’s a coupon for them.
